Ava Calvert | Editor
Ava Calvert is a third-year Rhetoric & Professional writing student at the University of Cincinnati with certificates in Copyediting & Publishing and Creative Writing. She works with Short Vine to edit poetry. Outside of school, Ava enjoys reading, writing, painting, and visiting local spots like museums, parks, and restaurants.
Chelsie Kilgore | Editor
Chelsie Kilgore is a third-year Psychology major pursuing a Creative Writing certificate at the University of Cincinnati with aspirations of becoming a licensed mental health counsellor. She enjoys reading and writing poetry in her spare time. Chelsie also enjoys listening to music, playing piano, and spending time with her friends and family every chance she gets.
Mary Klein | Editor
Mary Klein is from Findlay, Ohio, but studies journalism and critical art theory at the University of Cincinnati. Her poetry has appeared in Title, Angel Rust, and local zines, alongside her collage art. She’s a musician in two bands; Hueston Woods and Shineola.
Kara Rose Kowalski | Editor
Kara Rose Kowalski is a third-year student at the University of Cincinnati, where they’re pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Creative Writing, as well as double-minoring in Fine Art’s and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. Kara Rose, aside from being a poetry editor for Short Vine, is a writer, dancer, and mixed-media artist.
Emma Murphy | Editor
Emma Murphy is a third-year at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Digital Media and working towards a certificate in Copyediting and Publishing. Aside from being a poetry editor for Short Vine, she enjoys listening to music, drawing, reading, and hanging out with friends.

Sami Huynh | Editor
Sami Huynh is a third-year student, majoring in PR and working toward to certificate in copy editing and publishing. She enjoys reading nonfiction and fiction stories during her spare time. She loves traveling and learning new cultures. Graduating with a Graphic Design Bachelor degree, Sami is also interested in art and aesthetics.
Avery Miller | Editor
Avery Miller is an English Creative Writing and Rhetoric & Professional Writing major at the University of Cincinnati and is also working towards a Copyediting & Publishing certificate. In her free time, Avery loves to read, write poetry, practice yoga, travel, thrift, and hang out with her beloved cat, Bleu.
Brooke Robinson | Editor
Brooke Robinson is a third-year Journalism major and English minor pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. Aside from contributing to Short Vine’s literary nonfiction, she loves to read, write, listen to music, travel, and spend time with her family and friends!
Jayla Thompson | Editor
Jayla Thompson is an English creative writing major in her third year at the University of Cincinnati. She is also working to obtain copy editing & publishing, and professional writing certificates. In her free time, she loves to sit and read books of many genres. She also loves to write fiction and design book covers.

Kathleen Decker-Maynard | Editor
Kathleen Decker-Maynard is a senior at the University of Cincinnati majoring in English: Creative Writing and pursuing a certificate in Copyediting and Publishing. She is preparing for graduate school with plans to pursue teaching. She is an editor of fiction in Short Vine. In her free time, she likes reading, writing, hiking, and traveling.
Kaycie Embry | Editor
Kaycie Embry is a third year English Creative Writing major pursuing certificates in Professional Writing and Copyediting & Publishing. When she’s not writing her next paper or reading, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Eva, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and enjoying a good bowl of pasta.
Rachel French | Editor
Rachel French is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in English at the University of Cincinnati, working towards a career in Library Science. She is a fiction editor for Short Vine, an avid reader and writer, and lover of music, old movies, and libraries.
Emily Selan | Editor
Emily Selan is a second year at the University of Cincinnati, studying for her business degree with a creative writing certificate. Through editing fiction, she hopes to help share authors true voices and help them express themselves fully. Outside of school she loves reading, traveling, and watching live theater performances.
Madison Williams | Editor
Madison Williams is striving to earn her bachelors in English creative writing and a certificate in copy editing and publishing. At 21 years old, she is entering her journey into publishing by accepting the role as a Short Vine editor for their fiction submissions and is working on her novel.
Interns
Felicity Cook | Intern
Felicity Cook is a fourth year student pursuing a BFA in media production, with a minor in creative writing and certificates in copyediting and screenwriting. After graduating in 2024, she would love to work with words for a living. When not studying or writing, she can be found curled up with a good book or watching a terrible slasher movie.
Josephine Sampson | Intern
Josephine is a fourth year English Creative Writing major. She hopes to one day work in the publishing world, and help authors write their next bestseller. If she’s not reading or writing, she loves being outside in the sun, exploring new places with her dog, and watching good movies.
Nathan Thomas | Intern
Nate (he/him) is a fourth year English Rhetoric & Professional Writing and Creative Writing major and is also working toward the Copyediting & Publishing certificate. When he’s not legging his 25 minute speed-walk to class or editing his friends’ papers, he enjoys fashion, reading, writing poetry, watching the film adaptations of books he should be reading, and spending time with friends.
